  11.        These release notes describe the IRIS Performer 2.2.5
  12.        performer_eoe and performer_demo overlays for IRIX 6.5.4.
  13.  
  14.        IRIS Performer provides a powerful and extensible
  15.        programming interface (with ANSI C and C++ bindings) for
  16.        creating real-time visual simulation and other interactive
  17.        graphics applications.  IRIS Performer supports both the
  18.        IRIS Graphics Library (IRIS GL) and the industry standard
  19.        OpenGL graphics library; these libraries combine with the
  20.        IRIX operating system and REACT extensions to form the
  21.        foundation of a powerful suite of tools and features for
  22.        creating real-time visual simulation applications on Silicon
  23.        Graphics systems.  IRIS Performer 2.2.5 is designed to bring
  24.        out the best of the entire SGI product-line of graphics
  25.        subsystems running IRIX 6.5.4 or a later version of IRIX.

  27.        The performer_eoe 2.2.5 execution environment contains
  28.        updated dynamic shared objects (DSOs) for runtime linking of
  29.        applications based upon IRIS Performer.  The IRIS Performer
  30.        2.2.5 DSOs are binary- and backwards-compatible with
  31.        dynamically linked applications from IRIS Performer 2.2,
  32.        2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3, and 2.2.4.  In addition, updated
  33.        backwards-compatible libraries for versions 2.1.x, 2.0.x,
  34.        and 1.2 of IRIS Performer are included in this release.
  35.        These updated IRIS Performer DSOs are included so that
  36.        execution environments from different IRIS Performer
  37.        releases can co-exist simultaneously on your system, thereby
  38.        allowing you to run dynamically-linked IRIS Performer
  39.        applications from any IRIS Performer release.  The run-time
  40.        IRIX linker, rld, will automatically select the proper DSO
  41.        version for a given IRIS Performer application.

  43.        IRIS Performer 2.2 and its successors contain many new
  44.        features for supporting large database with dynamic geometry
  45.        and using the new graphics and video features of the entire
  46.        product line and recent versions of IRIX.  To get further
  47.        acquainted with the features which were introduced in IRIS
  48.        Performer 2.2 we recommend that you read the main IRIS
  49.        Performer reference page (via "man performer") and that you
  50.        install and check out the following demonstrations using
